Kylie Minogue, Sir Terry Wogan, Alfie Boe … and Blinding Light! All stars of the 2012 BBC Proms in the Park concert held in London in September. It was the 10th year that the company has provided lighting for this increasingly popular event.
Coinciding with the Last Night of the Proms from the Royal Albert Hall, and other celebrations in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, the Proms in the Park concert series is held in London’s Hyde Park, providing a mix of both classical and popular music. As well as high-profile live artists, the event includes a live big-screen link-up with the Royal Albert Hall at the culmination of the traditional Last Night celebrations on the Saturday.
Proms in the Park began in 1996, and has grown in popularity so that the Hyde Park venue now attracts around 45,000 people for the Saturday event. The staging is used for a Radio 2 music festival on the Sunday.
In 2012 Blinding Light notched up 10 years of providing the lights for the event. This not only includes full artistic stage lighting, but also arena lighting as well. For the company the event typically involved a crew of 10 on-site for a week.
